  5. Installation
  6. To install Funkeys, simply drag it into your Control Panels folder and restart.  If for any reason you would like to cancel loading, hold down the option key on startup.

  8. Full documentation is included—simply click on the About/Help button in the FunKeys control panel to read it.

  10. This product is shareware, which means that you are granted a reasonable amount of time (15 days) to try it out and examine its features.  After that time, you must either send in your shareware fee (read the documentation in About/Help for more info) or discontinue use of the software.

To register, please open the application entitled Register FunKeys.  I now accept credit cards (Visa & MasterCard), so you can register that way and receive your code (to disable the startup message) much faster.  The Register FunKeys program semi-encrypts credit card information, so that it will be safe when sent by e-mail.

  29. Quick Start
  30. Using FunKeys is really easy.  The control panel allows you to set tasks to the function keys.  (The function keys are those 15 keys on the top of your keyboard that most Mac users don't use).  With FunKeys, you can have each individual Function Key launch an Application (such as Microsoft© Word, ClarisWorks, America On-Line, Netscape...the possibilities are endless), an AppleScript, or an FKEY macro.  An Applescript is a script that executes a command.  Some that are included with FunKeys are AppleScripts to change the Monitor Depth, Sound Volume, and to shut down the computer.  For more information, please read the document About AppleScripts in the AppleScripts Folder.

  32. How it comes set:
  33. As soon as you install FunKeys, no Function Keys are set; you'll have to do this yourself.  However, you can start using new Function Keys as soon as you set them; there's no need to restart.

  36. Go to the FunKeys control panel, in the Control Panels folder.  Open FunKeys, and click on settings.  To assign applications/AppleScripts, simply click on the Function Key icon you want, assign it a function from the menu, and click Choose.
